Is it time to call a family meeting? |

If you are interested in creating a legacy and not just leaving an inheritance, the answer is YES! The most important thing is making sure everyone in the family is on the same page. It doesn't make sense for parents to save and accumulate assets all their lives only to have the kids and grandkids spend their inheritance as fast as they receive it. If you are going to allow that to happen, then spend everything now and cut out the middleman! I believe an education is the best gift a parent or grandparent can give. The old saying, "you can give a hungry man a fish to eat or teach him how to fish" is a good example for us to follow when it comes to our children and grandchildren. I meet with families in their homes or in my office, on a regular basis so parents, adult children and grandchildren can share thoughts and concerns about the future. This "Family Meeting" will help get everyone on the same page and will allow a "Family Plan" to come into place. |
